Before I take family photos, one of the questions I often get revolves around this.
"What do we wear? Any tips?"
This is a great question, and ultimately it’s up to you! If you want to go more casual, that’s great. If you would like to get dressed up that’s great too! These photos should reflect you and your family. If you want to all wear plaid and jeans and take
With that being said, I do have some general tips on how to pick out outfits.
1. Pick a colour scheme
Be purposeful with the colours you
choose to wear. Try to find ways to tie in your outfits together. On the right, you can see this family wore reds and plaid/simple patterns throughout their outfits. This was a great way for them to tie their outfits together. If you wanted to be more obvious I've had families that have even all worn the same plaid shirt which can be fun too.
2. Wear Neutral Colours
Neurtal colours definitely phorograph best. They don't over power you so that you and your family can be the stars of the show! An accent colour can be nice, but keep it minimal. If you are going to wear patterns keep it to one or two family members unless you are all wearing the same thing. You may have been told black is slimming and white is classic, but colour is great! I also find that layers are a nice way to mix up your colours as well.
3. Be comfortable!
Above all else, you should each wear something that you love. Something that you feel comfortable and confident in. If you feel good, you’re going to be so much more comfortable during the photo shoot and it will make it so much easier for your fun authentic selves to shine through! If you feel good, you’ll look good!
